Ok, who remembers that line from Boomerang? Halle Berry with the finger to Eddie Murphy's forehead?? It is one of the best lines in the movie! What she actually says is, "What do you know about love? ...Love should've brought your ass home last night!" Yes, it makes you want to jump to your feet, clapping for the righteousness of it all. But after you sit back down and take a moment to think about it, what does it really mean? I use this quote because it is a powerful example of the difference between love as a noun and love as a verb. Are you simply talking about love or is love moving your body where it should be? Now remove love and slide in Faith to replace it. Whew! Did it just get a little warmer in here, or is it just me? Reader, when you use Faith as a verb instead of a noun, ACTION is required. It is no longer an inert word you belt out in a song or something emblazoned on your t-shirt. It now means faith should've sent the email, clicked the link, applied online, took the chance, asked for the sale OR brought your entire self home instead of wherever you were lol. Imani, the 7th day of Kwanzaa, means FaithAs we close out 2024 and ring in the new year, I'm reminded of the faith-based action we took to realize our dream of living abroad:
We are still using faith as a verb right now! My point is, living the life you dream of won't happen simply because you have faith that it will. It happens in the NOW. When you step forward in the darkness. Faith is active, audacious and unapologetic. It doesn't hear excuses, it hears movement. Ok, it's your turn. Ask yourself and then reply and tell me: What will be my first 2025 Faith-fueled step?
