This Is Your Mid-Year Wake up Call

It's summertime

Y'all! We are at the halfway point of 2025. I know... it's already been one hell of a year. We are living through times that our grandchildren and greats will probably study in their history classes.

I want you to think about what your personal history will be. When you (or your grands) look back at your 2025, what would you like the historical record to show?

Let’s make the second half of this history-making year audacious, empathetic, magical and full of ease. I love these rituals from Astrologer Chani Nicholas:

Above all, this Solstice asks you to honor what is ripening in your life. This is your time to celebrate every fruit of your labor. Indulge in the relationships, projects, and pastimes that center on joy. 7 Ways to honor the June Solstice:

  1. BUILD

Build an altar to the Sun (from Kysha: or BE an altar to the sun!). Dress it with a yellow or gold cloth and flowers, or other items that invoke solar qualities, such as lion figures or golden trinkets.

  1. GATHER

If possible, go foraging. Gather any flowers, plants, fruits, leaves, or pine cones that are available in your area at this time of year. Place your finds on your altar or in your home.

  1. WELCOME

Open all of your blinds and windows to welcome the Sun into your home. Adorn your space with fresh flowers or foliage if possible.

  1. INVITE

Gather with the people that light you up. Gather around a fire. Share food, pour libations, play games, and share stories about what this time of year reminds you of.

  1. NURTURE

Consider a project, relationship, or person in your life that you want to nurture. Form a plan about how you are going to show up. Make care your ritual this Cancer season.

  1. REVIEW

See if you have any planets or points in Cancer by pulling up your birth chart on the CHANI app or using our online chart tool. Then, read your horoscope for the Sun in Cancer — here or in the app — and reflect on what the June Solstice is ripening or illuminating in your life.

  1. MEDITATE

Do a guided meditation to work with the energies of the season.

If you need a reason to pause, reflect & set intentions, now is a good time

Some people scoff at using New Year's or your birthday to open the can of worms that contains your achievements, missed opportunities, goals, and deferred dreams. Rituals and rites-of-passage were incredibly significant to people in ancient cultures (many still practice today). In letting these fall by the wayside, I think we have deprived ourselves of the repeated chance to acknowledge milestones, rewire the way we BE in the world and reintroduce ourselves in an expanded way.

Reader, I'm encouraging you take time this week to use one of the following symbolic days to do exactly what I just described!

Acknowledge - Rewire - Reintroduce Yourself

  • Juneteenth - June 19th, 1865 is officially recognized as the day freedom finally came -two and a half years later- to the more than 250,000 enslaved Black people in Texas.
    • What have you freed yourself from? How are you still chained to various ways of thinking and being? What current habits, people or environments hinder freedom making its way to you? Do you have a vision of what freedom looks like in your life? Make one!
  • Summer Solstice - June 20th marks the start of summer and longest day of the year. It can be a sacred time of renewal, celebration & frolicking in nature.
    • This is a time for letting go and making space for what you would love. Write out what you want to let go of and then burn it or let water break the paper down. Write intentions for the rest of the year and take a moment to close your eyes and visualize yourself self experiencing what you want. There's a more in-depth ritual at the bottom of this page.
    • Did you know that the Egyptian Great Pyramids of Giza were built so that the solstice sun sets between them?
  • New moon - June 25 is "a moment to return; return to what matters, to what once made you feel safe, whole, real. It is a moon that asks us to plant seeds not in the soil of ambition or logic, but in the fertile ground of emotional truth" - Born Under Saturn
    • Set a sacred Intention. I encourage you to make time to be still. Often it's hard to return to the truth of what matters because we keep our bodies and minds so busy.
    • Now look at your personal & business goals; Where is your peace, how do you make money and what are you on track for? Get real with yourself and reassess. What do you REALLY desire and need? Are your goals, actions and how you show up in alignment?

I'd love to know if you try one or a combination of these! Let me witness what comes through for you. In other words, reply and reintroduce yourself!

Happy belated Father's day!

We took my husband (the GOAT of dads) to a Peruvian restaurant here in Panama; the food was sooo good.
